2024/25 cricket schedule finalised with Sheffield Shield and One-Day Cup fixture announced

The 2024/25 MCG cricket schedule has been finalised, with the announcement today of the Sheffield Shield and One-Day Cup domestic fixtures.

The MCG will host two Sheffield Shield matches in 2024, with Victoria hosting New South Wales from October 20-23 and Queensland from December 6-9.

Today’s announcement also included a One-Day Cup match at the MCG, with Victoria taking on Western Australia on November 13.

In addition to the matches announced today, the MCG will also host six Big Bash League (BBL) and Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) matches across the summer.

Following the success of last year’s first-ever standalone WBBL match at the MCG, the competition again returns to the stadium with a double-header on November 15.

The double-header event will begin with the Perth Scorchers taking on the Sydney Thunder before the Melbourne derby between the Stars and Renegades.

Then, the BBL returns to the MCG on December 18 with the Stars hosting the Brisbane Heat before matches against the Renegades, Sydney Sixers and Hobart Hurricanes in January 2025.

Earlier in the year, the international cricket fixture was also announced, with four exciting matches confirmed for the MCG in addition to the domestic fixtures.

Australia will take on Pakistan at the MCG on November 4 in the first international cricket match of the season, before hosting a match between Australia A and India A from November 7-10.

The fan-favourite Boxing Day Test also returns, with Australia hosting fierce rivals India in the contest for the Border-Gavaskar Medal.

Then, history will be made at the MCG with the Women’s Ashes Test between Australia and England to close-out the season.

This match will be the first women’s Test match at the MCG in more than 75 years, and the very first day-night Test at the MCG.
