Hawthorn premiership star and Norm Smith Medallist, Paul Dear, was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer in September 2020 and passed away on July 8 last year at the age of 55 – just 22 months after being diagnosed.
Each year, more than 3,500 Australian families are devastated by the loss of someone special to pancreatic cancer. Despite being a leading cause of cancer deaths, there is not enough awareness and research funding for this devastating disease.
To raise the much-needed awareness and funding, the match will unveil the Bay of Hope - a visual tribute to represent the thousands of Australians who die each year from pancreatic cancer.
Match day attendees can get involved in the campaign by making a donation to the Dare to Hope: Paul Dear Pancreatic Cancer at www.daretohope.com.au
Tickets can be purchased via the Ticketek website, at Ticketek agencies or at the ground on match day, subject to availability. A total of 10 tickets can be purchased in one transaction.
