Warm weather is expected across the Boxing Day Test with temperatures forecast to reach 30 degrees Celsius and above. Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen and slap on a hat. Seek shade around the stadium concourse and slide on sunglasses to protect from the sun.Patrons can fill up their water bottles for free at one of our many water stations available around the internal concourse. General public parking in Yarra Park is unavailable for this match day. Parking is available to accredited passholders and disability permit holders only. - You will be required to enter via the gate noted on your ticket.
- The MCG is a cashless venue. All food, beverage and merchandise outlets will be cashless – so all transactions will need to be made on your debit or credit card.
- The MCG is a smoke, e-cigarette and vape free venue. Patrons found smoking or vaping inside the Ground will face immediate eviction.
- The MCG’s official hygiene partner, Dettol, has installed 275 hand sanitisation stations throughout the Ground to support good personal hygiene practices.
- We also recommend packing a fitted face mask. While masks are not mandatory, we encourage patrons who wish to do so to wear masks where physical distancing cannot be maintained.

The G-Train Mobility Shuttle Service
The G-Train Mobility Shuttle Service operates during public events held at the MCG.The service is free and accessible to patrons with mobility challenges and also features vehicles with wheelchair-friendly access.
Pre-booking is not required; simply wait at a designated pick up point for the next available buggy. The service has pick up points from the following locations:
- Richmond Station
- Jolimont Station
- Accessible Parking Area

Multi-Faith Prayer Room
The MCG Multi-Faith Prayer Room is open to all patrons.The Multi-Faith Prayer Room is located on Level B1 of the Shane Warne Stand (behind approximately M13 and M14).
The facility is able to cater for more than 50 patrons at one time, and is suitable for patrons of all faiths including Christian, Muslim, Jewish and Hindu.
The Multi-Faith Prayer Room is accessible for all patrons from across the stadium, regardless of where they are seated.

As well as cheering on your favourite team this summer, throw your support behind the MCG’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact.There are more than 250 bins around the seating bowl and external concourse and we encourage patrons to utilise these at each break of play.

West Gate Bridge Works - Major delays 90+ minutes
The Department of Transport is conducting annual maintenance works on the outbound lanes of the West Gate Bridge from 9pm Monday 26 December 2022 (Boxing Day) to 6am Wednesday 4 January 2023. Significant delays of over 90 minutes may be expected with four of five outbound lanes closed, 24 hours a day – drivers are advised to avoid the area and detour early.The Todd Road entry ramp to the Western Freeway will be closed during the works to provide access for work crews and emergency vehicles.
Delays can be expected across the network including:
- the West Gate Freeway between the city and West Gate Bridge
- the Domain Tunnel
- the citybound lanes of the Monash Freeway
- surrounding roads through the CBD, Dockland and Southbank
- South Melbourne and South Yarra.
People from the west to the city and beyond, should consider taking public transport or plan their return journey in advance to avoid major delays.
