From solar farm to the MCG – A McCain SureCrisp sustainable journey

Friday, September 01, 2023

It’s a beloved food favourite on any given match day at the MCG – but McCain SureCrisp fries are part of a much larger production journey aligning with the Melbourne Cricket Club’s (MCC) ongoing commitment to a sustainable future.

As the MCG’s official chip partner, McCain ensures its SureCrisp™ fries are locally and sustainably grown and produced using renewable energy, forming an integral part of its commitment to deliver delicious yet sustainably friendly food.

Completion of the biggest renewable energy system in Australia in 2020 was just the beginning of McCain’s efforts to deliver products that put energy efficiency at the forefront of its operations.

Having already produced enough power to run 1,100 games at the MCG, McCain continues to reduce its carbon footprint and implement initiatives that support the MCC’s holistic approach to this area.

Since becoming the official hot chip partner of the MCG in 2021, this item remains one of the more popular choices on match days available at food outlets throughout the stadium - a product that is both flavoursome, and sustainably grown and produced, with the MCC pleased to continue to support McCain’s sustainability practices.

As ground manager of the MCG, the MCC is committed to reducing its environmental impact and in doing so contribute to and promote the development of a sustainable environment.

The MCC’s 2022-2025 Sustainability Plan includes a number of key targets in order to maintain this commitment and can be found here.
