The AFL has announced the fixture for Rounds 1 to 15 of the 2023 AFL Premiership Season as well as venues and match-ups for the remaining Premiership Season matches, with the MCG set to host 47 matches during the regular season.
The Melbourne Cricket Club, ground manager of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, welcomes the AFL’s announcement of the 2023 fixture, following the release of the Round 1 match ups last week.Four blockbuster matches in Round 1 will be followed by key fixtures in Rounds 2-4, including Carlton v Geelong Cats, Collingwood v Richmond and the Easter Monday clash between Geelong and Hawthorn on April 10.
While the MCG will not host matches in Round 5 of the season as the league travels to South Australia for Gather Round, Round 6 will draw crowds from across the country to the MCG for the traditional ANZAC Day match between Collingwood and Essendon, as well as the exciting ANZAC Eve match-up between Melbourne and Richmond.
The remaining fixture provides tantalising matches between key teams: including Melbourne v Collingwood on the King’s Birthday in June, Dreamtime at the 'G between Essendon and Richmond on May 20 and two clashes between traditional rivals Carlton and Collingwood.
Match ups beyond Round 15 have also been confirmed, with specific dates and match times to be confirmed during the season.
Ticket on-sale dates for Rounds 1-15 will be announced in due course.
