ICC Women's T20 World Cup

Australian Sports Museum offers special 8.6174 per cent discount this weekend only

The Australian Sports Museum is gearing up to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the record-breaking ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 Final at the MCG, by offering all attendees a special discount this weekend only.

All ticket purchasers will receive a discount of 8.6174% this weekend, reflective of the crowd attendance at last year’s final, which broke the Australian attendance record of a standalone women’s sporting event.

The Australian Sports Museum – which is celebrating its one-year anniversary since a $17 million upgrade – will bolster its cricket exhibition this weekend. The Museum will showcase the Women’s T20 World Cup trophy, won by Australia on the Friday and Saturday of this weekend.

In the coming weeks, further Women’s T20 World Cup items are set to join the Museum, to celebrate not only the moment where Meg Lanning’s Australian Women’s Cricket Team lifted their fifth title, but the wider legacy that cricket made on International Women’s Day 2020.

The new exhibition comes as the Museum readies itself for seven-day operation and the welcoming back of the fan-favourite MCG Tours from Friday, March 12.

The ever-popular tours were suspended in 2020 due to the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the new and revised tour routes following a COVIDSafe plan to protect the ongoing wellbeing of all visitors.

Manager of the Australian Sports Museum, Jed Smith said: “It’s remarkable that almost 12 months has passed since that iconic night at the Women’s T20 World Cup Final.

“We’re excited to welcome visitors this weekend with this special International Women’s Day offer and the chance to see the trophy this Friday and Saturday, that Meg Lanning lifted in front of over 86,000 fans.

“It has been wonderful to welcome back visitors to the Australian Sports Museum on weekends since November, and we’re looking forward to taking the next step and resuming seven days a week of operations for the Museum and, of course, the ever-popular MCG Tours.

“We know that everyone – from sports fans, families and school kids – have been looking forward to getting back to the MCG after the year that was. We see this as another step toward resuming that sense of normality for people, alongside AFL matches returning to the MCG later this month.”

Tickets for both the MCG Tours and Australian Sports Museum need to be pre-booked to assist with capacity management and contact tracing.

MCG Tours and the Australian Sports Museum are closed on match days at the MCG. Refer to the Australian Sports Museum operating hours for closure dates. Click here to book your tickets.
