The Melbourne Cricket Club is celebrating National Volunteer Week this week, acknowledging and thanking the invaluable contribution of our volunteers who bring the MCG to life each day.
The 365 volunteers who donate their time at the MCG provide memorable experiences to visitors at the MCG – whether it’s delivering stadium tours, sharing the Club’s heritage in the MCC Museum, exploring sporting history in the MCC Library, or celebrating Australia’s sporting culture in the Australian Sports Museum.Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, usual MCG operations are temporarily halted, including the roles undertaken by our volunteers.
MCC CEO Stuart Fox said although the current circumstances are very different to normal, the Club is still incredibly thankful for the dedication of all the volunteers.
“Although our volunteers can’t be with us at the MCG at the moment, their support, dedication and selflessness are so important to us at the MCC.”
“Our volunteers are pivotal to our usual operations at the MCG – and provide our visitors with the best possible experience through their knowledge, personality and care.
“We look forward to the months ahead when we can welcome back our volunteers to the MCG and thank them for their contributions in person.”
In total the stadium’s 365 volunteers have completed 10,540 shifts in the past year, equalling over 31,000 hours of dedicated time to provided first-class experiences to the visitors of the MCG.
The MCC would like to thank all of our wonderful volunteers for their time and passion they devote to the Club and the MCG.
