The MCG will host the First Semi Final of the 2019 AFL Finals Series when the Geelong Cats play the West Coast Eagles on Friday September 13 at 7.50pm AEST.
The Cats, who went down to Collingwood by 10 points in a nail-biting Qualifying Final, will be looking to avoid being the first minor premiers to bow out in straight sets since the top eight was introduced in 1994.The Eagles, who have won five of its past six matches at the MCG, enter the cut-throat clash as favourites following a dominant 55-point win over Essendon in Thursday's Elimination Final.
The winner of Friday's Semi Final will set up a blockbuster Preliminary Final clash with Richmond, who continued their red-hot form with a 47-point Qualifying Final win over the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba.
Meanwhile, Collingwood awaits either the Brisbane Lions or GWS GIANTS in the other Preliminary Final, with both matches in the penultimate weekend of the Finals Series to be played at the MCG.
