Revised ticket on-sale dates for AFL Week 1 Finals

Tuesday, August 28, 2018

The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) is deeply disappointed in the performance of the Ticketek operating system during this morning’s ticket on-sale ahead of the Richmond v Hawthorn and Melbourne v Geelong Cats matches in Week 1 of the AFL Finals Series at the MCG.

Tickets went on sale to AFL club members at 9.00am today.  A technical back-end issue within Ticketek’s system led to the on-sale period being postponed while the issue was rectified.

MCC CEO Stuart Fox said the experience for members of all four AFL clubs in no way met expectations, and that the club apologised unreservedly to fans, the AFL and the clubs involved.

“Football finals should be an exciting and uplifting time for fans,” said Mr Fox.  “Whilst the issue of demand outstripping supply will always mean some people are left disappointed, inconvenience such as this morning’s occurrence is unacceptable.

“We have communicated our frustration in no uncertain terms to Ticketek. We will continue to work with Ticketek and the AFL to ensure the ticketing system works effectively for the remainder of the finals series.”

MCC visitor tickets and reserved seats to both MCG matches went on sale at midday today and sold out within the hour.

Transaction fees waived

In a gesture of goodwill, the MCC has negotiated with Ticketek to waive all transaction fees on any further ticket purchases to the two MCG matches in week one of the finals.

This applies to club members, AFL members and the general public.

Revised ticket on-sale dates and times

The MCC and AFL have agreed to a new schedule of ticket on-sale dates for the remainder of tickets to both MCG matches:
