Visiting the MCG for Ed Sheeran

The Melbourne Cricket Ground looks forward to welcoming you to the ‘G for Ed Sheeran.

For everything you need to know on attending the ‘G, please read the information below.

Tickets

Tickets for Ed Sheeran’s Australian tour can only be accessed via the Ticketek App.

To protect fans, strict anti-scalping measures are being used for Ed Sheeran’s Australian tour, with all tickets digitally supplied and accessible via the Ticketek App only.

You must download the Ticketek App to access your tickets to the concert. Follow these three simple steps before you get to the venue to ensure smooth entry.

  1. Download the Ticketek App to view your ticket order on iPhone or Android
  2. Share tickets with others in your group so they have their own ticket on their mobile
  3. Add your ticket to your Apple Wallet (please note: Android users are not able to add tickets to the Google Wallet. Please use the Ticketek app for entry)

When you arrive at the venue, you will automatically receive a notification on your mobile phone to open your tickets. Make sure you tap on this to view your ticket in the wallet and use this as your ticket to enter the venue, and scan at the turnstiles. Your wallet ticket will open and scan even if your mobile is offline, or the mobile network is slow.

Tickets will be available to add to your wallet and share from Monday February 27. For more information on accessing your tickets, click here.

Arrive Early

To ensure you are inside the Ground in time for the show, arrive early and leave plenty of time for the entry process.

Gates open: 4.30pm
Budjerah: 6.00pm
Maisie Peters: 7.00pm
Ed Sheeran: 8.15pm

Entry

All guests must enter via the gate listed on their ticket.

Prohibited items
For quick entry, please do not bring either of these items with you:
  • Bags bigger than A3 will not be permitted into the venue
  • Hard plastic and metal drink bottles are not permitted

Arena Reserved Seating

Patrons with arena reserved seating must obtain a wristband prior to entering the venue.

A map showing the locations of wristband collection kiosks can be viewed here, and will open from 3.30pm.

Please note, Arena A section ticketholders may collect their wristband from any wristband collection point shown on the map, however the wristband collection kiosk located closest to Gate 4 will only issue wristbands for Arena A section ticketholders. Arena B or C section ticketholders are asked to collect their wristband from one of the other locations shown on the map.

Arena ticketholders with accessibility needs should refer to the section below regarding wristbanding arrangements and ramp access to the arena.

Parking

General public parking in Yarra Park is unavailable for this event. Parking via Gates 3 and 5 is available to accredited and disability permit holders only and will be extremely limited. There is no guarantee of available spaces. Alternate transportation is recommended.

Pre-purchase accessible parking is available via Ticketek. Please note, pre-booked accessible parking for Thursday March 2 is exhausted.

Road closures

Full road closures will be in place around the MCG for this event. Brunton Avenue, Jolimont Street and Terrace, Vale Street and Wellington Parade will be impacted.

Brunton Avenue: 9.30am-11.30pm
Jolimont Street and Terrace: 3.00pm-11.00pm
Vale Street: 4.30pm-11.00pm
Wellington Parade: 10.30pm-11.30pm

Drop off and pick up zone

For both concerts, Clarendon Street will be available as a designated rideshare, drop off and pick up zone for all patrons.

Patrons with accessibility needs

The accessible drop off and pick up zone is located at the Bus Turning Circle, accessible via Jolimont Street and Terrace. Please note, access to the Bus Turning Circle will be restricted for approximately one hour after the show due to road closures.

Accessibility patrons with arena reserved seating
Patrons with accessibility needs can enter the arena floor via a dedicated ramp accessed via Gate 6A (Dick Reynolds Gate, right hand side of Gate 6). Patrons will receive their arena wristband from this gate and do NOT need to visit the wristband kiosks in Yarra Park.

Patrons will be met by a member of the CARE Squad upon entry at Gate 6A. The CARE Squad will provide patrons with an escort from Gate 6A, up the ramp and on to the arena. The CARE Squad will also assist with exiting at the end of the event.

An accessible bathroom for the exclusive use of arena patrons only is located at the bottom of this ramp.

Wheelchairs will also be available for short term loans to assist patrons in getting to and from their seats.

G-Train Mobility Shuttle Service

The G-Train Mobility Shuttle Service operates during public events held at the MCG.

The service is free and accessible to patrons with mobility challenges. The G-Train also features vehicles with wheelchair-friendly access.

Please note: G-Train routes will be modified for this event, due to the amount of pedestrians in the precinct. Services after the concert, will not commence for a minimum of 45 minutes post-event. A limited number of wheelchairs will be available for those patrons who wish to not wait until the service can safely commence.

Pre-booking is not required; simply wait at a designated pick up point for the next available buggy. The service has pick up points from the following locations:
  • Richmond Station
  • Jolimont Station
  • Accessible Parking Area

Metro Trains Disruptions
Buses replace trains on sections of the Hurstbridge, Belgrave, Lilydale and Upfield lines this Thursday and Friday.

Thursday
  • Buses replace trains on the Belgrave and Lilydale lines between Camberwell and Box Hill stations.

Friday
  • Buses replace trains on the Belgrave and Lilydale lines between Camberwell and Box Hill stations.
  • Buses replace trains on the Hurstbridge line between Heidelberg and Greensborough stations from 8pm.
  • Buses replace trains on the Upfield line between North Melbourne and Upfield stations from 9.30pm.

V/Line disruptions
Coaches replace trains on the Bendigo, Echuca, and Swan Hill lines this Thursday and Friday.

Thursday
  • Coaches replace trains on the Bendigo, Echuca, and Swan Hill lines between Southern Cross and Bendigo, Echuca, and Swan Hill stations.

Friday
  • Coaches replace trains on the Bendigo, Echuca, and Swan Hill lines between Southern Cross and Bendigo, Echuca, and Swan Hill stations.

Please be aware that after the concerts, there are extra services available to take fans home on the Ballarat and Geelong lines, as well as an extra coach on Thursday night for Seymour Line passengers. For more information, click here.

Passengers should allow extra time when travelling to and from the MCG. Please be aware after the concerts there may be increased congestion and delays getting onto the platforms at Richmond and Jolimont stations. Passengers are advised to return to where they got off the bus prior.

Merchandise

Official merchandise outlets will be available outside of the venue, opening from 3.00pm AEDT on show days. For locations, view the map here. Limited additional outlets will be available inside the venue.

Sensory Friendly Space

A Sensory Friendly Space, presented by the MCC Foundation, will be available for patrons to use during this week’s Ed Sheeran concerts.

The Space which is located in the Australian Sports Museum, inside Gate 3, provides patrons of all ages with a quiet, calm and supported place to retreat to, away from the stress and stimulation of the live event.

To ensure the safety of those visiting, all visitors must be aged 18 or over unless accompanied by an adult. The Space also has a capacity of 30 people, once reached a time limit may apply.

MCG Multi-Faith Prayer Room

The MCG Multi-Faith Prayer Room is open to all patrons. Located on Level B1 of the Shane Warne Stand (at approximately M13), the room is able to cater for more than 50 patrons at one time, and is suitable for patrons of all faiths including Christian, Muslim, Jewish and Hindu.

The Multi-Faith Prayer Room is accessible for all patrons from across the stadium, regardless of where they are seated.

The MCG is for everyone

Everyone who attends this week’s Ed Sheeran concerts should feel welcome and included during the show. The below access and inclusion features are available to patrons:
The MCG is proud to support the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme. If you are attending either of Ed Sheeran’s concerts this week, we encourage you to wear your Sunflower. Or, you can pick up a free lanyard from the Sensory Friendly Space located inside Gate 3 from 4:30pm each night.

At the ‘G

  • The MCG is a cashless venue. All food, beverage, merchandise and ticketing outlets will be cashless – so all transactions will need to be made on your debit or credit card.
  • The MCG is a smoke, e-cigarette and vape free venue. Patrons found smoking or vaping inside the Ground will face immediate eviction.
  • At the MCG, your safety is our priority. If you experience any form of antisocial behaviour, please report it by texting 'Assist' to the MCG's antisocial text hotline on +61 409 117 621.

Flashing lights warning

Please note, flashing lights and pyrotechnics will be used throughout this event at the MCG.
