Dees Premiership Cup Tour starts at the Australian Sports Museum

Monday, November 08, 2021

The Australian Sports Museum will be the first leg of the Melbourne Football Club’s National Premiership Cup Tour, available to Melbourne fans from Friday November 19.

Ahead of the public re-opening of the Australian Sports Museum on November 20, Melbourne Football Club members will be able to get a first exclusive glimpse at the 2021 AFL Premiership Cup inside the Australian Sports Museum as part of a special activation.

The activation, will see Melbourne members and their guests have the opportunity to take photos with the Cup, inside the Museum.

Melbourne Football Club members will be given a unique link to access the free ticket offer that will require them to enter their membership number. They will also be offered an opportunity to bring guests at the regular ticketing price of entry to the Museum.

To assist with capacity management of the Australian Sports Museum, tickets will be capped in session times of 10.00am-12.30pm, 12.30pm-3.00pm, 3.00pm-5.30pm and 5.30pm-8.00pm on Friday November 19.

The activation will remain in place on Saturday November 20 and Sunday November 21, with these two dates also open to the general public. Pre-booking within timed activation sessions will again be required. The Cup will be back in the Australian Sports Museum on Saturday December 4 and will stay at the MCG for the proposed Melbourne Football Club Premiership celebration on Sunday December 5.

Manager of the Australian Sports Museum, Jed Smith said the museum was thrilled to bookend the first leg of the Melbourne Football Club’s National Premiership Cup Tour.

“We’re really excited to work with Melbourne and offer their members, our members and the general public a wonderful opportunity to come face-to-face with a piece of history,” Smith said.

“This Melbourne Premiership will go down in Australian sport as one of the great dam wall-busters and for the die-hard Dees fans who waited 57 years, we’re really proud to launch this activation and be part of a national Cup Tour.

“The Demons fans are among the most parochial and after the recent lockdown prevented them from sharing in the success at the MCG on Grand Final Day, we hope this is the next best thing.”

General public tickets are limited, so book your spot to get up close and personal with the 2021 AFL Premiership Cup here.
