The NFL has announced the MCG has been chosen to host a regular season game in 2026.

This will be the first time the NFL has hosted a regular season game in Australia when the Los Angeles Rams take on the role of the designated ‘home’ team.

Previous international stops for the USA’s most popular sport have included London, Spain, Brazil, Germany, Mexico and Ireland.

In 2024, the NFL had an average of 20 million Americans tune in to each game in addition to millions more across the globe through international broadcast agreements.

The hosting of an NFL regular season game in 2026, adds to the MCG’s impressive upcoming line up of events which includes the 2025 AFL Premiership Season, with the first match being played on March 13, the second Test between the Wallabies and the British and Irish Lions before the summer of cricket sees the Australian Men play the old enemy in an Ashes Test Match on Boxing Day.

More information about ticketing, date and the second team to travel to Australia will be announced at a later date. Fans can register their interest at nfl.com/Melbourne.
