Accessible Seating

Accessible seating is available in all stands at the MCG. Availability is event dependent.

Accessible Seating Types

  • Accessible seating refers to seats or areas set aside for patrons with additional requirements, and includes wheelchair spaces, companion seating and extra amenities seats.
  • Wheelchair bays are for patrons who use wheelchairs. Unless booked with a companion seat, a wheelchair space does not include a seat and it is the expectation that the patron has their own wheelchair to sit in. The MCG does not loan wheelchairs or temporary seats.
  • Extra amenities seats are spaced a little bit further away from neighbouring seats and have more leg room than a standard row seat. These seats are always located on an aisle with no or minimal steps (maximum of 4) to climb.

Accessible Seating Locations - By Stand

Shane Warne Stand (Sections 1 – 27)

Accessible seating is only available on Levels 1 and 2 of the Shane Warne Stand.

NOTE: Public availability of accessible seating on Level 2 is restricted during the AFL Premiership Season as this area often forms part of the home club’s season reserved seat or dining room allocations.

Ponsford Stand (Sections 28 – 36)

Accessible seating is available on Levels 1, 2 and 4 of the Ponsford Stand.

MCC Reserve (Sections 37 – 48)

Accessible seating is available on Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the MCC Reserve, however only MCC members and their guests will be permitted entry into the Reserve.

Olympic Stand (Sections 49 – 57)

Accessible seating is available on Levels 1, 2 and 4 of the Olympic Stand.

Stadium Levels

The MCG has four levels of seating which are represented by different letters: M, N, P and Q. Your seat ticket will contain your seating section (which begins with one of the previously listed four letters along with a number corresponding to its location in the stadium, such as M26 or Q31), your row letter and a seat number.

  • M sections are on Level 1 (ground level).
  • N sections are on Level 2.
  • P sections are on Level 3 (Level 2A in the Shane Warne Stand).
  • Q sections are on Level 4.

Dedicated Accessibility Gate

The MCG, with support from the home AFL clubs, is pleased to be opening a dedicated accessibility gate for patrons attending selected matches this 2026 AFL Premiership season.

This gate will be located at Gate 3B (to the left of Gate 3 as you face the gate) and can be utilised by patrons with accessibility needs, including hidden disabilities.

The accessibility gate has been designed to enhance feelings of safety and confidence whilst reducing anxiety, sensory stimulation and time pressures associated with entry.

Features of this gate will include:

  • A slower security screening process
  • Ticket scanners instead of turnstiles
  • No overhead announcements or flashing signs
  • Additional support from trained MCG staff – all staff are trained in access and inclusion awareness, as well as the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
  • Close proximity to the Sensory Friendly Space and Changing Places bathroom
  • Some matches may also include an Auslan interpreter and/or trained therapy dog (where available)

The accessibility gate (Gate 3B) will open at the same time as Gate 3 opens and will close 15 minutes after the match starts. Anyone arriving after this time will need to enter via Gate 3. The accessibility gate cannot be used for exits.

When will the accessibility gate be open?

Customer research informs us that the experience for patrons with disability decreases when crowd size increases, so the MCC has decided to open the accessibility gate for the matches with the highest predicted attendances in 2026.  In addition, the Hawthorn Football Club has committed to opening the gate for all of their home matches in 2026.

Between Round 0 to Round 15, Gate 3B will be open at:

  • Round 1: Carlton v Richmond (12/03/2026)
  • Round 2: Hawthorn v Sydney (19/03/2026)
  • Round 4: Hawthorn v Geelong (06/04/2026)
  • Round 6: Carlton v Collingwood (16/04/2026)
  • Round 7: Richmond v Melbourne (24/04/2026)
  • Round 7: Essendon v Collingwood (25/04/2026)
  • Round 10: Melbourne v Hawthorn (16/05/2026)
  • Round 11: Richmond v Essendon (22/05/2026)
  • Round 13: Hawthorn v Western Bulldogs (05/06/2026)
  • Round 13: Collingwood v Melbourne (08/06/2026)

Additional open dates will be communicated when the Round 16 - 23 fixture is released later in 2026.
